- פְּרַחII, פִּרְחָא, פִּרְחָה, פִּירְ׳ ch. sam( פֶּרַח m. (b. h.; preced.) blossom, flower, an ornament in the shape of a flower), 1) flower. Targ. Y. Gen. 30:37 (v. פְּרַח I). Targ. Job 20:3, v. פּוּחָא.Esp. caper-blossom, also caper-tree. Ber.40b (expl. נצפה) פרחה (Ms. F. פירחא). Ib. 36a אדעתא דפ׳ for the sake of the caper. Ib. b, v. בּוּטִּיתָא; a. e.Pl. פִּרְחֵי. Pes.111b טולי בי פ׳ רוחי (the demons dwelling in) the shade of caper-trees are named ruḥé. 2) a species of locusts. Targ. Joel 1:4 (h. text ילק). 3) palpitation of the heart. Gitt.69b. 4) that which is blown off, particle, crumb.Pl. פִּרְחַיָּיא. Pes.110a bot. (in an incantation) פרח פִּרְחַיְיכִי let the wind carry off your crumbs (with which you conjure; v., however, Rashi a. l.).
